This subseries consists of various documents on the social service work undertaken by the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario during their ministry in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. The Sisters collaborated with many social welfare organizations, including the Edmonton People In Need Shelter Society, a non-profit charitable organization also known as P.I.N.S. This series contains pamphlets, brochures, promotional materials, newsletters, reports, and correspondence regarding P.I.N.S. and the Kirwin-Lucier House project. Located at 103 Avenue, P.I.N.S. built a new residence to serve the housing needs of up to 15 individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. The facility opened on October 5, 1993, and was named after Sisters Mary Leo Kirwin and Esther Lucier for their contribution to the people of the city of Edmonton. There are also three issues of Insites, a newsletter produced by the Edmonton Inner City Housing Society, known as EICHS, from 1993 to 1994. EICHS is a social activist housing group concerned about renovictions by building affordable living quarters. In addition, there is a photograph of the front of the Kirwin-Lucier House in June 1994.
