Mother Margaret Coughlin, the General Superior from 1947-1959, wrote monthly letters addressed to the local Sister Superiors and Sisters. These newsletters contain rules about Sisters’ activities, such as prayers and chapel decorum, and permissions related to the vow of poverty. Mother Margaret also wrote about Superiors’ meetings, Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse activity, the School of Music, Mount St. Joseph Academy briefs, and academic achievements.

Updates in these newsletters pertained to the collaboration with the hospice in London, the management of the technological aspects of amalgamating four different congregations, and an affirmation of the importance of spiritual ministry in London after the closing of the Medaille Retreat House.
