This series primarily contains the written chronicles and photographs captured of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake, a summer house in Kingsville, Ontario, that belonged to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario from 1953 to 1998. There are short histories of the lake house before it was owned by the Sisters, gathered recollections from Sisters who vacationed at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake to form a souvenir book for the closing ceremonies of the cottage, and a list of directives and codes of conduct for the Sisters while at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake. There are photographic panoramas of the Sisters at the summer house, photographs taken by Sister Claire Marie Pageau on the closing of the cottage, and a photographic collage of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake created by Sister Simone Batte. In addition, there is correspondence, news clippings, and brochures related to the history, heritage, and closure of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake.

This subseries consists of photographs of the summer vacation house St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake in Kingsville, Ontario. There are panoramas of Sisters seated in the chapel and in the dining hall at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake, as well as panoramas of the lake house cottage and the surrounding landscape. There is an album of photographs compiled by Sister Claire Marie Pageau from the closing celebration of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake. The event took place at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake from October 17 to 18, 1998. In addition, there is a photographic collage of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake comprised of photos taken by Sister Simone Batte. There are also two photograph albums that document the various events the Sisters participated in at the Kingsville summer vacation house. One album provides a visual record of their holidays, workshops, retreats, and celebrations, and the other album is related to the farewell dinner and entertainment for the closing event at the Kingsville cottage.

This subseries contains the chronicles of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario during their summer vacations at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake in Kingsville, Ontario. There is a short history of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake assembled by Sister Dolorosa Sullivan with input provided by the daughter of the properties previous owners, Miriam Woodbridge. There is correspondence, newspaper articles, and brochures relating to the historical legacy of the property before it was owned by the Sisters, as well as the efforts of Troy and Anne Loop to transform the building into a commercial inn and spa after the Sisters sold the property. There is also a financial account book from 1954 to 1970.

There is a list of Sisters who planned on attending the closing celebration for St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake, to be held at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake on October 17 and 18, 1998. There is a “Memory Book,” project dubbed the “Lakeside Memories,” which was organized by Sister Bernadette Boyde. Sisters who had vacationed at the lake house were given a page to write their favourite memory of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake. The written pages of memories were collected to be displayed at the closing day celebration of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake. There are recollections on rest, relaxation, peaceful days, swimming, sunbathing, beach picnics, swinging on the garden swing, motor trips, buying groceries from road stalls, playing bridge, cooking, and sharing meals. There are also brochures on the closing program of events, including the lyrics for 30 songs in a song sheet titled Old Time Favourites, and printed pictures of St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake. In addition, there are photographs of the chapel and sunset, as well as photographic negatives related to the closing ceremonies at St. Joseph’s-on-the-Lake.
