Series consists of results of local music festival competitions. Information contained in the files includes the names and grades of participating students, the names of prize winners and the names of teachers whose students entered the competitions.
Series forms part of the Mount St. Joseph Academy sous-fonds and includes correspondence, programmes, overview of music courses and related activities, a biography of Sister Mary Margaret Childs, London Kiwanis Music Festival, and a vinyl record of the Academy Singers as well as a cassette tape recording of their final concert.
Sub-series consists of Bach sheet music owned by Cesar Borre who was the consultant who supervised the building of the organ in 1930. He taught organ to Sisters Electa and Callistus and trained the Sisters in Gregorian chant, according to a note on the cover of the sheet music booklet.
This subseries contains records related to the ministry of music at the congregation. There are two histories: one for the Congregation’s music ministry in London, Ontario from 1867-1992, and one about “music” at Mount St. Joseph Academy. The music ministry history contains biographical information about specific teachers as well as key locations where Sisters taught in London, Ontario. The history of music at Mount St. Joseph Academy contains information about how students could interact with music at the Academy through Music School or various clubs (i.e. Glee Club). The subseries also contains lists of Sisters who served as music teachers from 1868-1990.
