This subseries comprises two guestbooks of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario, during their western mission in St. Patrick’s Parish, in the neighbourhood of Haney in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. The guestbooks are signed and dated by people who visited the home of the Sisters on 121st Avenue at St. Joseph’s Convent of Haney, also referred to as Haney’s Convent.
This subseries primarily contains three guestbooks of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario during their western mission in the Archdiocese of Edmonton, Alberta. There is a guestbook is from a Come and Go Tea celebrating Sister Dorothy Hasting’s service to St. Patrick’s Parish. Sister Dorothy was a teacher and principal at St. Patrick’s School in Edmonton, Alberta. Former students and parents, teachers, and friends were invited to drop in to St Patrick’s Church, Edmonton to bid farewell to Sister Dorothy. There are two other guestbooks signed with dates, names and addresses of people who visited the Regional House. One guestbook is dated from the opening day on June 25, 1961, until June 12, 1999, and the other guestbook is dated from June 16, 1961, until July 1, 2001. In addition, there is also an official Government of Alberta of Canada certificate from Deborah Grey, Member of Parliament from Edmonton North, congratulating the Sisters and their seventy-five years in health care and education in the Archdiocese of Edmonton.
This subseries contains prayer booklets from 1998-2000 providing insight and guidance for prayer and ritual related to Lent and Advent. These booklets were distributed to the Sisters during these religious periods to assist with prayer and ritual practices. The title “Pilgrimage to Right Relationship” was self-published and distributed by the Sisters of St. Joseph to assist with guided community prayer during Lent as well as Advent.
