Scope and content

This series contains a record of the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph of London, Ontario’s involvement with the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity during their foreign mission in northern Perú. There is a letter in the Spanish language, dated January 26, 1982, from Robert C. Cable, O.D., of the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, in Missouri, USA, to the Sisters of St. Joseph in the Zaña Valley. The letter concerns the donation of 4,500 eyeglasses to the needy, as well as a team of eye doctors willing to give their services for one week from March 6 to 13 to the people in the Zaña Valley. There is also a signed photograph of a doctor adjusting glasses on a patient, while a smiling Sister looks on.
